Help make it easier to get to your station without a car

The TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is transforming the railway across our area. As part of this, we want to help make it easier and more enjoyable to walk, wheel and cycle to your local station.

Walk Wheel Ride is sharing a new interactive survey from Create Streets to find out what works well, what could be improved and what would help people feel more confident getting to the train without a car.

The survey covers six stations across Kirklees:

  • Huddersfield
  • Deighton
  • Mirfield
  • Ravensthorpe
  • Dewsbury
  • Batley

Whether you already walk, wheel or cycle to the station, or would like to do so more often, we want to hear about your experiences.

What would make your journey easier?

Perhaps there’s a quiet street that makes cycling more comfortable, a useful shortcut, or a good spot for cycle parking. Or maybe you encounter a tricky junction, poor lighting, a steep hill or another barrier that makes your journey harder.

Use the interactive map to pinpoint opportunities and challenges around the stations and tell us what you’ve noticed.

What can we do with your feedback?

We can’t promise new cycle paths or major road changes through this survey. But your feedback can help us understand people’s experiences and make the case for improvements with the organisations responsible.

Walk Wheel Ride can also offer practical support to help people feel more confident walking, wheeling and cycling. This could include workshops, free bike checks, led walks and rides, and other activities.

How to take part

1. Find a station: Explore the map or use the search bar, then select a station icon and answer the short questions.

2. Add your local knowledge: Click on the map within the blue boundary to mark an opportunity or challenge, then explain why you’ve chosen that spot.

You can leave up to 10 responses across the stations on the map.
