Batley & Spen Valley

About Our Batley & Spen Valley Hub
Our Batley and Spen Valley Community Active Travel Hub will be popping up around the North Kirklees district. To reach as many people as possible, one day we might be at Cleckheaton library, another day at a community centre, another day at Batley library… We will always let you know in advance so you can come find us for all your active travel needs!
You’ll be able to get involved in plenty of activities over the coming months. Join us for Dr Bike sessions, basic bike maintenance courses, e-bike test rides, guided rides to build your confidence in cycling for everyday journeys, guided walks and accessible routes. Keep an eye on our social media, our monthly newsletter or our website for our next event.
At any of our events, our team will be on hand to provide support for those interested in walking, wheeling and riding more often for their everyday journeys, with resources and guidance to help you on your way. If you are interested in finding out more please email iain@epiks.org.uk.
We’re currently looking for passionate volunteers to help us bring active travel to life. Roles include Events Assistant, Bike Maintenance, E-Cargo Bike Rider and a Photographer/Filmmaker. Contact Iain on the email above to find out more.
We want to extend our thanks to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Kirklees Council for funding our hub and its activities.
We hold regular events in and around Batley and Spen Valley. To find out what’s happening next see here!

Streetbikes works to make cycling accessible to all.
From the Spenborough Athletics Track (WF15 6LW), they offer cycling in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. Their range of adapted and non-adapted bikes means there is something for everyone. Tuesday and Saturday ‘turn-up and ride’ sessions are offered to help improve the health and well-being of everyone in the local community.
Streetbikes also works to make cycling affordable, running a bike recycling project. Donated bikes are refurbished by mechanics and sold at low cost.
