About Us
Together, we can make Kirklees a place where more people feel empowered to walk, wheel, and ride.
Walk Wheel Ride is your essential guide for active travel in Kirklees, created and managed by EPIKS (Environmental Projects in Kirklees). We’re here to help make walking, wheeling (using a wheelchair or mobility aid), and cycling an easy and enjoyable part of your everyday routine.
Choosing to travel actively isn’t just good for your health—it’s one of the most effective ways to cut carbon emissions from daily transport, which makes up a significant portion of the UK’s environmental impact. By making simple changes to how we get around, we can all play a part in creating a cleaner, greener future.
Our Walk Wheel Ride Active Travel Hubs—based in Huddersfield, the Holme Valley, Batley and Spen Valley—are local centres of support, offering practical advice and opportunities to help you discover new, lower-carbon ways to travel more often.
We believe that everyone should have easy access to healthy, sustainable and accessible options for travel. Whether you are commuting to work, exercising, or exploring your local area, our support is tailored to meet your needs. We connect you with valuable resources and community networks. Our goal is to help you travel actively and confidently every day.

This site is delivered by EPIKS (Environmental Projects in Kirklees) in partnership with Colne Valley Cycle Therapy CIC, as part of a CityConnect Community Active Travel Hub. CityConnect, led by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, works with local communities to encourage and enable more people to walk and cycle.
We welcome new submissions to the site! If you run a walking or cycling group, club, or event and would like to promote it, or if you have any general questions about active travel in Kirklees, please get in touch we’d love to hear from you.
