group of people meeting at our Holmfirth Hub for a wellness walk

Join us for a jam packed summer of Walk Wheel Ride events in Kirklees!

In 2025, the Walk Wheel Ride team is turning up the energy across Kirklees with a packed programme of fun, free and inclusive events for all ages! From bustling town centres to gorgeous green spaces, our events are the place to be. Whether you walk, wheel, or ride, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, and there’s a brilliant team of people making it all happen.

What’s On This Summer?

We have been busy putting together a fantastic range of activities with some amazing partners, and this year’s summer schedule is our biggest yet! Be sure to look out for:

  • Dr Bike Maintenance Sessions – bring your bike along for a free tune-up from our expert mechanics.
  • Wellness Walks – guided walks to help you explore your local area, meet new people, and enjoy the fresh air.
  • Adult E-bike Trials – curious about e-bikes? Come and give one a go in a safe and supportive setting with a great instructor.
  • Children’s Bike Skills Sessions – helping little riders grow in confidence and have tons of fun!
  • DIY Maintenance Workshops – learn how to look after your own bike with hands-on sessions.
  • Weekly Pop-up Drop-in Sessions – meet the team, grab a map or some travel advice, or just have a chat, we’re popping up in community spots all over Kirklees.

And that’s just a taste of what’s happening, there’s much more to discover throughout July and August.

One of the highlights of our calendar is the Go Active event on Saturday 13th September at Greenhead Park, Huddersfield. A lovely way to end the summer season! It’s set to be a fantastic day out, with special guests including Little Bikers, the Neighbourhood Policing Team, and Everybody’s Cycling.

Come along, bring your friends and family, and join us in celebrating active travel, community connections, and healthy, sustainable living.

Our team are out there every week, creating welcoming spaces, inspiring active lifestyles, and helping you get the most out of your local area. Find out more about upcoming events and where your nearest drop-in session is by visiting the Walk Wheel Ride events page.

A big thank you to all of our community partners and of course to West Yorkshire Combined Authority for helping us turn these events into a reality.

Let’s make this a summer to remember. See you out there!
