The UK has experienced increasingly extreme weather in recent years, highlighting the need to think differently about how we travel and how resilient our transport networks are.
Today, Campaign for Better Transport brought together more than 50 organisations from across transport, climate, health and community sectors to call on the Government to take urgent action on sustainable transport. The joint statement highlights the importance of making it easier for people to choose public transport, shared transport, walking, wheeling and cycling.
At Walk Wheel Ride, we believe that making active travel a realistic choice for everyday journeys is an important part of creating healthier, more sustainable and resilient communities.
Good-quality walking, wheeling and cycling routes can help people make shorter journeys without relying on a car, while providing accessible and affordable ways to get around our communities.
As our climate changes, making it easier for people to choose sustainable ways to travel will become increasingly important, alongside ensuring that our transport infrastructure is designed to withstand more extreme weather.
