Thank You for Taking Part on Commonplace

Our summer giveaway and consultation have now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views. Your contributions have given us valuable insight into how walking, wheeling, and cycling in Kirklees can become more accessible for everyone.

Why We Used Commonplace

We partnered with Commonplace, an interactive online engagement tool, to better understand real experiences of active travel across Kirklees. The platform enabled residents to:

  • Pin a location on the map – highlighting areas where improvements were needed or where things were already working well.
  • Complete a quick survey – helping us learn how people currently travel and what would encourage more walking, wheeling, or cycling.
  • Share favourite routes – building a picture of the places and paths people value most.

Your feedback will directly shape our ongoing work, influencing community-led initiatives, awareness campaigns, workshops, and practical resources to support active travel. This has always been about more than infrastructure, it’s about creating a culture where moving actively is easier and people feel more comfortable to do so.

What Happens Next

We’re using your comments, suggestions, and route insights to inform future plans for active travel in Huddersfield and the wider Kirklees area. We’ll publish a full overview of the consultation outcomes soon, so you can see exactly how your input is helping shape the way forward. In the meantime, you can look at people’s responses via the Commonplace platform.
